  Haven't tried the hotel, but I've eaten and drunk here several times over the last three years. The food is fine, adequate, if a little expensive. It's all about the beer and cider, and the friendly atmosphere. The main bar is the hub, with folk evenings, spoken word evenings or plenty of opportunities for a quiet post-walk pint or five. As you move through the rooms, the view improves (big windows looking down the valley) but the atmosphere gets a bit more "hotel restaurant". I prefer the first two rooms. As for the beer and cider... five local ales and (literally) a wall of ciders! Always in excellent condition, too.

  Top place to eat. We usually stop off on route but also good for a meal out. Has live music and more flavours of cider than I've ever seen.

  The hotel might be a little hard to get to, but it's well worth it. We only needed the room for one night so we picked one of the lowest priced places we could find, but we got way more than we expected. The building looks great, pretty unusual look inside. Everywhere was very clean and tidy. And the staff were absolutely great. All very friendly and helpful, as well as good conversation. The choice of drinks in the bar was remarkable. Definitely intend to stay there again, and can't recommend the place highly enough.
